Nuapada: Forest officials trapped the leopard, which had spread panic in Haladi Village under Khariar range of Nuapada district, on Saturday.
According to DFO (Territorrial) of Khariar Gadadhar Patra, a cage was put up in the forest with a goat in it to trap the animal.
On May 26, the leopard had killed a four-year-old boy. The incident occurred while he was asleep with his parents on the verandah of their house. The animal had tried drag a 10-year-old girl from her house while she was sleeping with her grandmother around 1am last Saturday. It escaped after the grandmother raised an alarm and family members rushed out with sticks.
The forest department officials have been making efforts to catch the leopard since villagers spotted it at the Shiva temple atop the hillock a few months back.
