Bhubaneswar: A senior IAS officer saved the life of an accident victim, who would have otherwise bled to death on a road during the lockdown.
Krishan Kumar, who is secretary, works department, and also the chief administrator of Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA), was returning to Bhubaneswar from Puri on Thursday evening when he saw someone writhing in pain on the roadside on National Highway-314 near Kausalyaganj. The accident victim, Ratnakar Pradhan, a resident of Sakhigopal in Puri district, had suffered injuries on his head and left arm.
Kumar with the help of his driver shifted the bleeding Pradhan (38) to his car and rushed him to Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar. With roads deserted during the lockdown and no help around, Kumar’s timely intervention helped save the victim’s life.
“The man was groaning in pain. His head and left arm were injured. We immediately took him to Capital Hospital in our car. His condition is now stable,” Kumar’s driver was quoted as saying by The Times of India, said.
Kumar said he is glad the accident victim is safe.
