Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Saturday announced to provide cooked food to poor and destitute people and financial assistance to street vendors as livelihood support during the lockdown period in Odisha.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said around 10 lakh poor and destitute people will be fed under the initiative every day. Self-help groups (SHGs) will cook the food and supply them across the state, he added.
The CM also noted that street vendors have not been allowed to sell food during the lockdown period and therefore the government will provide Rs 3,000 to each of the 65,000 registered street vendors in 114 urban local bodies (ULBs) in the state.
