Bhubaneswar: In wake of the countrywide lockdown to check the spread of coronavirus, the Odisha Postal Circle has allowed bank account holders in the state to withdraw money through post offices.
Chief Postmaster General (Odisha Circle) Subhash Chandra Burma informed this on Thursday.
Burma said that people with Aadhar-linked bank accounts can withdraw money through postal payment system.
He further said that the Odisha Postal Circle has facilitated the withdrawal of money to the tune of Rs 3.45 crore from 5000 bank accounts last week.
Burma also said that the Odisha Postal Circle has taken steps to help the poor by sending their money through money order, delivery of personal protective equipment (PPE) like masks, gloves, hand sanitizers, medicines, delivery of food to the non-resident Odia labourers and early disposal of public grievances.
Notably, the state government had recently directed all collectors to take up the matter with the post office authorities at the respective district headquarters.
