Puri: Elaborate arrangements have been made for smooth conduct of Lord Jagannath’s Rath Yatra to be held in Odisha’s pilgrim town of Puri on Tuesday.
The district administration and police have made arrangements for the devotees to facilitate a hassle-free darshan of the sibling deities when they come out of the 12th century shrine to embark upon a nine-day sojourn to Gundicha Temple.
While 170 platoons of police force are being deployed for maintaining law and order and other traffic arrangements, a detailed traffic advisory has been issued for those visiting the town.
A chariot-pulling mock drill was conducted by the police and paramilitary forces at the reserve ground in Puri on Sunday ahead of the annual Rath Yatra.
The focus is on ensuring the smooth and timely conduct of Rath Yatra for which over 10 lakh of devotees from different parts of the country and abroad are likely to throng the seaside town.
Besides, special emphasis this year will be on crowd and traffic management, chariot pulling, and providing security to VVIPs. There will be a special mobility plan for vehicles in pilgrim city during the annual festival.
The pilgrim town will be divided into 14 zones and 29 sectors during the annual festival, sources said.
For smooth traffic movement and for public convenience following traffic advisory is issued in public interest:
>> All the inter-state tourist buses and local tourist buses will stop and park at Malatipatpur Bus Stand. All the regular passenger carrying buses will be allowed up to Talabania Temporary Bus Stand via Malatipatapur ROB, Toshali Sands, Grid Station Chhak and Bhudan Chhaka.
>> Puri Town Shuttle Buses/ Auto Rickshaw will be allowed from Talabania to Zilla School Chhaka via Sunara Gouranga Chhaka, BNR Hotel Chhaka, Youth Hostel Chhaka and Nilachala Urban Hata. Their return will be via Zilla school chhaka to Helipad via Ghodabazar, Rama Mandir, Odisha Bakery, Sadar Block office for Buses and via Mangala temple for Auto rickshaw.
>> Another shuttle services will be available from Malatipatapur Bus Stand to Atharanala in a to-and-fro basis.
>> Two wheelers will avail parking at Jagannath Ballav, Masanichandi, Matitota Parking, Nilachala Ashok and Blue Flag beach. All vehicles will be diverted accordingly.
>> All LMV / Cars / SUVs will avail parking facilities at the parking places at Indoor Stadium, Helipad, Sanskrit University Parking, ITI College Parking, Nalifield and Yatrika. They will be diverted as per availability of space in parking places accordingly.
>> For smooth Darshan of the Lords by devotees, some shuttle services have been implemented from Talabania to Zilla school Chhaka and From Malatipatapur to Atharanala.
>> Regulation of vehicular Traffic shall be imposed from midnight of June 19 to midnight of June 21 and from midnight of June 28 to Midnight of June 29 as per traffic mobility plan.
>> For smooth Darshan of the Lords by devotees, no vehicle zones will be ensured in the place from Atharanala Chhaka to Hospital Chhaka from Hospital Chhaka to Subash Bose Crossing.
