Puri: Devotees have started thronging Puri to witness Suna Besha (golden attire) of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra on the chariots on Monday.
The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has taken necessary steps to ensure smooth and timely conduct of the rituals.
It has been decided that all rituals would be performed by 4.30 pm after which the servitors would begin emblishing the Lords with gold ornaments and other jewellery at 5 pm.
The Suna Besha darshan of the Lords would begin at 6.30 pm and continue till 10 pm.
For the smooth darshan of the Lords, elaborate security arrangements have been made.
“As we expect a footfall of about 8-10 lakh devotees for this event, we will put up barricades from the Municipality Market Square up to the Simhadwara so that the devotees would move in a queue and have a smooth darshan of the Lords,” Additional Director General (ADG) Satyajit Mohanty told mediapersons here.
The servitors, who had performed Mangala Alati and Mailama-Tadapa Lagi rituals of the sibling deities early in the morning, will take up Abakasha, Gopala Ballava, Sakala Dhupa, Mailama Lagi, Madhayna Dhupa and Sandhya Alati before the Suna Besha.
