Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast that the low pressure area over Bay of Bengal is very likely to concentrate into a depression in next 24 hours and intensify into a cyclonic storm during subsequent 24 hours.
In its mid-day bulletin, the IMD said the low pressure over southwest and adjoining southeast of the Bay has become well marked low pressure area and the resultant cyclonic storm is likely to move northwestwards and cross Tamil Nadu and Puducherry coasts between Karaikal and Mahabalipuram around November 25 noon/afternoon.
Wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph is likely over equatorial Indian Ocean and adjoining central parts of South Bay of Bengal on November 22. It is likely to increase reaching 80-90 kmph gusting 100 kmph over southwest Bay of Bengal, and along and off Tamil Nadu and Puducherry coasts around the region of landfall on November 25.
