Bhubaneswar: A low-pressure area, which formed over northwest formed the Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood this morning, is likely to trigger heavy rainfall in 16 districts of Odisha, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Thursday.
The regional centre here, in a release, said that the low-pressure area formed around 8.30 am. Under its influence, one or two places in Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Cuttack, Sambalpur and Deogarh and one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Angul, Keonjhar, Koraput, Malkangiri and Sundargarh are likely to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall from this afternoon.
“Another LOPAR is likely to form over the North Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood around July 27. Under its influence, widespread rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy falls are likely over east and adjoining central and northwest India during July 26-27,” it said.
Most parts of Odisha will receive heavy rainfall till next week, it added.
