Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall, and for several districts across Odisha under the influence of a well-marked low pressure area.
The low pressure area over northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal area of West Bengal intensified into well marked low pressure area in the evening and now lies over western parts of Gangetic West Bengal and neighbourhood.
Under its influence, heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely at one or two places in Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj till 8.30 am of Thursday. Orange warning has been issued for these districts.
The IMD has warned of temporary water logging in low-lying areas and occasional reduction of visibility causing traffic congestion in urban areas. Rise in water level in Subarnarekha river basin too has been predicted.
Yellow warning of heavy rainfall has been issued for the districts of Sundargarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Bhadrak and Balasore till 8.30 am of September 30.
Similar conditions will prevail over the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda and Bargarh from tomorrow till October 1 the early morning.
Surface wind speed reaching 40 to 50 kmph is likely over North Bay of Bengal, off Odisha coast during next 12 Hours. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into sea, along and off Odisha coast adjoining North Bay of during next 12 hours, the IMD state in a release.
