Bhubaneswar: Body of one of the two students, who were feared drowned in the Mahanadi near Naraj Barrage in Odisha’s Cuttack on August 8, was recovered from the confluence of Kushabhadra and Kuakhai rivers under Balianta police limits after Fire Service and ODRAF personnel resumed search operation on Thursday.
Father of the deceased boy has identified him as Aditya Abhisek Mallik, a resident of Mangalabagh. He has also lodged a complaint with police, alleging that his son was murdered. He suspect that his son was either kidnapped or pushed into the river, leading to his death.
The other student is yet to be traced.
According to sources, eight minor boys, all Plus II first students of a private school in Cuttack, were swept away by strong current when they had gone to take bath in the river near Siddheswar hill close to Naraj barrage on August 8 afternoon.
On being informed by the locals, personnel from Fire Services and police rushed to the spot and started a search operation to trace the missing boys in the river. Two backpacks, two pairs of shoes and a scooter was found on the river bank.
