Mumbai: The Maharashtra government approved a Rs 700 crore road tax waiver for commercial vehicles to ease the burden on the transportation sector amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The waiver, which is valid for 6 months from April to September, is expected to benefit up to 11.4 lakh commercial vehicle owners. Tourist taxis, mini-buses and buses, school buses, private service vehicles, trucks, tankers and stage-carriage vehicles can avail the benefit.
Gujarat, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand and Haryana have also given similar road tax waivers.
