Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Pradesh Mahila Congress Committee has decided
to hold a campaign titled ‘Swabhiman Sankalp Samabesh’ at the party
headquarters here on October 25.
“Through the campaign, the party members will throw light on the
issues faced by women including rising atrocities against them in the
state. We will also put forth our demand before the state and the
Central governments to make provision for reservation of women in the
Odisha assembly and Parliament”, informed president of Odisha Pradesh
Mahila Congress Committee, Sumitra Jena.
Stating that the BJD government in the state and BJP at the Centre
have failed to protect the interests of women, Jena said, “Senior
party leaders including Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee president
Niranjan Patnaik will attend the campaign and prepare strategies to
put pressure on both the governments to address the challenges being
faced by women.”
The campaign will also demand complete ban on liquor in the state, she
added.
