Deogarh: A 22-year-old youth, accused of abducting a minor girl, allegedly escaped from police custody while being shifted to Special Sub-jail in Odisha’s Deogarh district on Sunday.
According to sources, the incident took place in front of the sub-jail after the accused, Suman Behera, was produced before a local court, which rejected its bail petition and remanded him to judicial custody. He allegedly pushed the police constables accompanying him and escaped.
Police have registered a case against the accused on the basis of a complaint filed by a constable and raid were underway at various places to nab him, the sources added.
Behera was arrested for allegedly kidnapping a minor girl of Aaunli village under Kundheigola police limits in the district on the basis of a complaint lodged by her family members.
