Jajpur: A young man was killed and his brother seriously injured in lightning strike in Odisha’s Jajpur district on Sunday.
According to sources, the two brothers, Utkal Ojha and Bikram Ojha of Solar village under Badachana Bairi police station in the district had gone to work in their farm field. While they were in the field, thunderstorm with lightning struck the area.
Both Utkal and Bikram were hit by the lightning and fell unconscious in the field. After some time when the thunderstorm subsided, the villagers spotted the two brothers and rushed them to the community health centre (CHC) at Badachana.
The doctors declared Utkal brought dead and started treatment of his brother Bikram. As Bikram’s condition deteriorated and became critical, he was shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, the sources said.
