Jeypore: A person died of electrocution while his wife suffered critical injuries after being electrocuted at Maliguda village under Bariniput panchayat under Jeypore block in Koraput district on Thursday.
The incident took place when Kamalu Parija’s wife Rupi came in contact with a live electric wire while putting out clothes for drying. Her husband who attempted to rescue her also suffered the shock.
Hearing screams, their neighbours rushed to the spot, rescued both and rushed them to Jeypore hospital in critical condition. However, Kamalu was declared brought dead by the doctors.
Rupi’s condition is stated to be serious. The doctors have kept her under observation at the hospital, one of her neighbours said.
