Jajpur: Death of a man, who was arrested in a bombing case, sparked massive outrage at Dharmasala in Jajpur district on Sunday with family members alleging that he died due to severe torture in police custody.
Gayadhar Tarai (32), a resident of Kukudanga village in the district, was brought to Dharmasala police station for his alleged involvement in a bomb hurling incident that took place at Jaraka on July 6. Gayadhar fell ill on Saturday and police got him admitted to Dharmasala hospital. He died while undergoing treatment at the hospital.
However, Gayadhar’s family members alleged that he died due to custodial torture.
On being informed about the incident, Jajpur SP assured the family
members of the deceased that action will be initiated after conducting
an inquiry.
