Lucknow: In a logic-defying incident, a man was killed after he drove his car, with his pregnant wife sitting inside, into river Ganga in Uttar Pradesh’s Amroha district.
The man’s body was recovered, but his wife is still missing and even the vehicle is yet to be traced, ANI quoted the district magistrate of Amroha as saying.
According to police, a thorough search operation is underway, with professional divers having been been pressed into service.
The tragedy unfolded on Friday when 23-year-old Shaan-e-Alam had an argument with his family. In a fit of rage, he hit his father and sister before driving his wife straight into the overflowing river.
“After an argument at home with family members, Shaan was rushing out when he was stopped by his father. He then rammed his father and sister with the car, and his father had to be taken to a hospital. Shaan with his wife in the car drove the car into Ganga,” a local resident told ANI.
