Cuttack: A man died after he drowned in a pond while taking bath at a village in Narsinghpur area of Odisha’s Cuttack district on Sunday. His father, who also slipped deep into the water, was rescued.
According to sources, the mishap took place at Ramchandrapur village under the jurisdiction of Narsinghpur police station in the district.
The deceased, identified Biswajit Dhal, and his father Ditari Dhal had gone for a bath in the pond on the outskirts of the village. While Biswajit slipped and he drowned in the deep waters, his father tried to rescue him. However, both drowned in the pond.
Some villagers heard Ditari’s cries for help and jumped into the pond to save the two. While they could save the Daitari, the body of his son was later fished out.
While Biswajit was declared dead by doctors at the Narsinghpur Community Health Center (CHC), Daitari is undergoing treatment.
