Baripada: Police have solved the death of a youth under mysterious circumstances in the district after his lover confessed that her father had murdered him.
Speaking to media persons, SDPO Sarthak Ray said the girl revealed the details of the circumstances that led to the youth’s death to police after intense interrogation.
The 21-year-old youth, identified as Subhasis Barik of Jaipur village under Gopabandhunagar block in Mayurbhanj district was found dead at Baulasasan village under Udala police limits on Sunday morning. The police had sent the body for post-mortem and registered a case of unnatural death.
As Subhasis’ body carried injury marks and had blood stains, the police suspected it to be a murder case and started investigation. They came to know during investigation that Subhasis was in love with a classmate of his college. Their suspicion strengthened as Subhasis was found dead near the girl’s house.
During interrogation, the girl revealed the involvement of her father in murder of Subhasis, said the SDPO. She told the police that she had called Subhasis over phone to come to her house as her parents were away on Saturday night. He came to meet her in her house in Baulasasan in the evening.
Around midnight, the girl’s father surprisingly returned home and found the young lovers in compromising condition. Enraged by it, the girl’s father, who was in inebriated condition, assaulted Subhasis with an iron rod. Subhasis sustained bleeding injuries on his body including private parts.
However, Subhasis managed to escape from the brutal attack and ran away to save himself. Apparently he could not go much farther and succumbed near the girl’s house. Meanwhile, the girl’s father cleaned the blood spots in the house with a towel and hid it along with the iron rod.
Police have recovered the murder weapon and the blood stained towel from the girl’s house and arrested her father.
