Sambalpur: A man reportedly jumped into the Mahanadi from Chaurpur bridge in Odisha’s Sambalpur district on Thursday morning.
The person has been identified as Samiran Pradhan, a native of Patulidhipa village under Naktideul block. He was working with a private company and staying with his wife and two children at a rented house in Sambalpur, sources said.
His scooter, slippers, and mobile phone were found on the bridge this morning. Fire Service personnel have launch a search operation after being alerted about the incident, but he is yet to be traced in the river, which is swelling with water being released from the Hirakud Dam.
The reason as to why he took this extreme step is yet to be ascertained, the sources added.
