Dhenkanal: A man allegedly killed his wife and performed some ritualistic worship with her naked body in a mysterious way inside a forest in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district on Saturday.
The gruesome incident took place at Ambapalas village under the jurisdiction of Parjang police station.
While the exact reason behind the alleged murder is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that the accused, identified as Ashtam Khatua, is suspected to have killed his wife for ‘tantra puja’ on the occasion of Shivratri, sources said.
The body of the woman bore multiple injury marks. However, Khatua denied having killed his wife and claimed that she died due to some other reason.
The woman, who was earlier married to another man and had three children, had later eloped with Khatua, they said.
While Khatua has been detained, a team of police personnel rushed to the site and launched an investigation. The man is being interrogated. Further details are awaited.
