Berhampur: A man and his son allegedly committed suicide at Kusapada village under Dharakot police limits in Ganjam district on Saturday.

The deceased were identified as Rajendra Panda (55) and his son Kalpabata Panda (20).

According to available information, Rajendra scolded his son for not studying and spending too much time watching television on Friday night. Deeply upset over this, Kalpabatu allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree near his house.

Not finding his son home, Rajendra started looking for him and later found him hanging from the tree in an agricultural field. Following which, he too tried to end life by hanging himself from another tree. However, some passerby rescued him in a critical condition and admitted him to Aska hospital, where the doctors declared him dead.

The bodies were later seized by Dharakot police and sent for autopsy.
