Man Trampled To Death By Tusker In Rourkela

Rourkela: A man was trampled to death by an elephant at Harpalli village in Rourkela of Sundargarh district on Tuesday.
The deceased has been identified as Ramka Oram, former sarpanch of Kacharur panchayat in the district.
The incident took place at around 6:30 am.
Oram was attempting to drive away the tusker from the village along with forest personnel when the wild animal attacked him.
“Jumbo menace is increasing day by day in Rourkela forest division. A herd of elephants had also strayed into the human habitations on Monday night and damaged more than nine houses in the locality. The forest officials must take appropriate measures to check entry of elephants into the area”, a villager said.
