Bhubaneswar: As technology seeks to transform the industry scenario as never before, GenNext managers have to continuously upgrade their skills to meet the new requirement, said experts.

“Industry 4.0 comes with new requirements and technological innovations seek to make the present job structure redundant which will make it imperative for new age managers to upgrade their skills,” said Bijoy Ketan Mishra, a senior journalist at the inaugural function of ‘Convergence-2023’, the two-day annual function of Institute of Business and Computer Studies (IBCS), faculty of management of Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan (SOA) in Bhubaneswar on Saturday.

India, he said, had failed to capitalise during the first and second industrial revolutions as it was under colonial rule and lacked electricity when it happened in that order. But it had gained marginally during the third industrial revolution as it had an educated population, he added.

Presently, with a large percentage of the country’s population job ready, India must not miss the bus this time, he said adding the challenge would be to convert the workforce into smart workers and embrace the fast changes in technology.

Dr Siddharth MIshra, Medical Superintendent of AMRI Hospitals, urged the students to work hard. “Success is not an accident, you have to work hard to achieve it,” he said.

Bijay Kumar Sahoo, vice-chancellor of SOA, Anup Samantaray, Dean of IBCS, and Jyoti Ranjan Das, Dean (Students’ Welfare) also addressed the students. Ayasanta Mohanty, professor, coordinated the programme.
