Cuttack: Union Minister for Women and Children Development Maneka Gandhi, will address a conference organised by Friends Beyond Species – Society for the Advancement of Animal Welfare at the National Law University Odisha (NLUO). The two-day National Conference on Animal and Environmental Welfare, which is being organised in collaboration with Humane Society International: India (HSI India), will be held on September 25 and 26.
Maneka Gandhi will the chief guest and keynote speaker for the conference. The event will be attended by Prof. Dr Priyambada Hejmadi Mohanty, Biologist and Conservationist, N. G. Jayasimha, Managing Director of HSI, Sumanth Bindumadhav, Wildlife Campaign Manager of HSI, Gauri Maulekhi, trustee, People for Animals and Abhijay Negi, founder of MAD, a social action group. The coordinator for the conference is Sohini Mahapatra, Faculty of Law at NLUO.
Over a 100 participants are expected at the conference. It will host discussions on various themes in the form of paper presentations by academicians, students and scholars from all across the country. The conference will be broadly themed on the:
