Manish Anurag Death Case: Two Suspects Surrender In Odisha’s Kandhamal

Bhubaneswar: In a major development in senior journalist Navin Das’ son Manish Anurag death case, two suspects surrendered before police in Kandhamal district on Wednesday.

The body of Manish was recovered from a pond near Patrapada village on the outskirts of the capital city on October 10.

Sources said that Dinesh Mohapatra alias Litu and Mrutyunjaya alias Muna surrendered at Town Police Station in Phulbani.

Sources in the Commissionerate Police said that these two youths were with Manish at the South City Hotel and Bar at Patrapada on the night of October 9. They left the hotel before him and had since been absconding. They will be brought to Bhubaneswar later in the day for interrogation.

On Tuesday, police had seized the four-wheeler in which Manish had travelled from Patia to Patrapada on October 9 evening. Two persons, who police claimed were aware of the incident, were detained and interrogated.

Sources said Manish reached near Namrakani pond at Patrapada under Tamando police limits riding pillion with another youth, who then left the spot. Police suspect the 30-year-old again met the two youths who were with him in the hotel, near the pond.

Bhubaneswar DCP Umashankar Dash has also sought an explanation from Tamando police station IIC Pramod Kumar Pattnaik on how the hotel’s bar was open for customers till late into the night amid the night curfew.

The Alleged involvement of police personnel Prasanna Behera in the business affairs of the bar at the hotel in Patrapada is also being probed, the sources added.
