The trio was arrested on charges of murder and destroying evidence (sections 364 A, 302, 201 and 34 of IPC) in connection with the death of Manish, son of senior journalist Navin Das. According to sources, the death was the outcome of an altercation over payment of bill at a hotel in Patrapada.
Manish had gone to a hotel at Patrapada along with accused Amrit, Dinesh and Mrutyunjay in the wee hours of Sunday. They had altercation over payment of bill inside the hotel. The fight also continued outside the hotel after which the trio attacked Manish. When Manish collapsed, the three accused dumped him in a nearby pond to destroy evidence, according to reports. Although there were no injury marks on Manish’s body, he is suspected to have died due to internal haemorrhage.
