Manish ‘Murder’ Case: Bhubaneswar Court Grants Police Remand Of Three Accused

Bhubaneswar: The court of Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC), Bhubaneswar has granted the remand of three accused in the murder of Manish Anurag to police.

The JMFC court allowed Infocity Police to take the three arrested persons on a four-day remand. The three accused, Amit Pritam Biswal, Dinesh Kumar Mohapatra alias Litu, and Mrutyunjay Mishra alias Muna, were arrested on the charge of murder and attempt to destroy the evidence.

All three have been booked under Sections 364 (a) (kidnapping or abduction for ransom), 302 (punishment for murder), 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of offence) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the IPC.

The Commissionerate Police on Saturday confirmed that Manish, the son of senior journalist Navin Das was murdered by his three friends over bill payment in the South City Hotel and Bar at Patrapada in the wee hours of October 10.

Later, they had taken the body to a pond, about 500 meters from the hotel, and dumped it there with an aim to destroy evidence.
