Balangir: Decomposed body parts of a man were found inside a house under mysterious conditions at a village in Odisha’s Balangir district on Wednesday.

The chopped body parts were recovered at Salepali village in the district after locals informed the police about a foul smell emanating from the house, sources said. The deceased has been identified as Rinku Meher.

The decomposed body parts, chopped and packed in seven polythene bags, were recovered by breaking open the door of the house in the presence of a Magistrate.

While it appeared to be a case of planned murder, the motive behind the crime is yet to be ascertained, according to Balangir Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Tophan Bag. Investigation is underway and a scientific team will examine the spot.

It is suspected that the murderer might have packed the body parts in polythene bags with a plan to dispose it of, but was unable to do so due to some reason, he said.
