Malkangiri: For the second time this month, security forces unearthed an explosive dump of the Maoists and recovered huge quantity of explosives in a forest in Odisha’s Malakangiri district.

According to a press release of Odisha Police, the security forces including personnel of special operation group (SOG) and district voluntary force (DVF) came across the arms dump during a combing operation in a forest between Tulasi and Kirimiti villages under Mathili police limits on border with Chhattisgarh on Wednesday.

A huge quantity of arms and ammunition, IEDs and other articles were found from the dump. The explosives were intended to target civilians and security forces, the police said.

“We suspect that these explosives belong to the Maoists of Dandakaranya Special Zonal Committee (DKSZC) and were intended to be used against innocent civilians and security forces to carry out subversive, anti-national activities and show their presence in this area,” the release stated.
