Bhawanipatna: Making their presence felt in Kalahandi district, Maoists
set ablaze around seven vehicles engaged in road construction work at
Jamakana under Sadar police limits late on Tuesday.
A group of more than 40 armed ultras torched several vehicles
including four tractors, a JCB and one tipper involved in the construction
of a road under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY).
“The rebels are opposing any kind of developmental work in the region
as improvement in road communication would help the security forces to
hamper Maoist activities”, a police officer said.
Combing operations have been intensified in the area, he added.
