Marriage Procession Bus Runs Over Groom’s Father In Odisha’s Cuttack

Cuttack: In a tragic incident, a man died after being run over by the bus engaged during the marriage procession of his son at a village in Narasinghpur area of Odisha’s Cuttack district.

As per preliminary information, the incident took place at Chatarapada village chhak near Narasinghpur in the district on Wednesday. The deceased was identified as Bimbadhar Nayak (55).

Locals said the incident took place shortly after the groom came out of the vehicle for the wedding procession.

While several members of the marriage party were seated in the bus, some others were on the road to participate in the procession. As the procession was underway, the marriage party bus suddenly rushed towards the crowd. The groom’s father came under the wheels of the bus while others escaped.

The groom’s father, who was critically injured, was immediately taken to the community health centre (CHC) at Narsinghpur where doctors declared him dead.

The family of the deceased filed a complaint at Narsinghpur police station regarding the incident. Police registered a case and started an investigation into the incident.
