Bhubaneswar: After returning from Bali, Indonesia, on Thursday, Master Chef Season 6 winner from Odisha Abinas Nayak registered himself on ‘covid19.odisha.gov.in’, as precautionary measure to check the spread of the deadly virus.
The Department of Health & Family Welfare on Friday tweeted a video of the Master Chef in which he has appealed to people register on the portal, which is mandatory for people coming to the state from foreign countries. It is followed by 14-day home quarantine.
Abinas had left for Bali on March 11 for a pop up on Odia food under the Lokicooks Fellowship, which he had won in 2019.
Appreciating this initiative of the Odisha government, he exhorted people to come together to fight coronavirus. “I request all not take COVID-19 lightly but follow guidelines to save oneself and others,” he added.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had led by example by registering contact details of his sister Gita Mehta on the COVID-19 portal after her arrival from the US, on Wednesday. This move was appreciated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Odisha Director Sports Vineel Krishna had also got himself registered on the portal after returning from the US.
