Berhampur: A mathematics professor has donated the body of his mother to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Odisha’s Berhampur for the benefit of students and researchers.
Professor Ashwin Rout, who teaches mathematics in MKCG College at Paralakhemundi in Gajapati district, consulted with family members following the demise of his mother.
The family members decided to donate the body for the noble cause and larger interest of mankind as it will facilitate studies and research by medical students.
“After the death of my mother, I decided to donate her body to the medical college and hospital. Being a student of science, I know that we discover many new things due to research. For the development of the medical science extensive research is necessary,” Prof Rout said.
If the body can be used for research purpose by the medical students then it will be of immense help for the society as a whole, he added.
MKCG Medical College and Hospital has so far received 21 bodies donated by different people. This is the fifth body which has been donated so far this year, sources said.
