Kochi: When aspiring medical students have to toil extremely hard to become doctors, it took Abu Abraham Luke just some ‘fake documents’ to become a medic, thereby putting life of patients at risk.

The 36-year-old Abraham, who has been working as doctor at various hospitals in Kerala, is actually an MBBS dropout.

The ‘fake’ doctor was exposed after a 60-year-old heart patient passed away under his medical supervision.

The deceased, Vinod Kumar, was rushed to a private hospital in Kozhikode after complaining of chest pain. Abraham attended to Vinod. However, the patient breathed his last half an hour after he was brought to hospital.

When the deceased’s son Ashwin and his wife, who are doctors themselves, visited the hospital, the latter noticed Abraham’s name in the list of doctors. She immediately recollected that Abraham was her junior in medical college and was a college dropout.

They informed police and the MBBS dropout doctor was arrested.
