Bhubaneswar: A medical aspirant was found hanging in the hostel of a private coaching centre at Patia in Odisha capital on Thursday.

The deceased girl is a resident of Salipur area in Cuttack district. She had enrolled in a pre-medical course at the Chandrasekharpur branch of institute while pursuing Plus II.

She was found hanging from the ceiling fan in her hostel room.

It is being suspected that she took the extreme step due to study pressure. Her family members, however, alleged that she was being harassed by other students in the hostel but no step was taken to address the issue by the hostel or coaching centre authorities. They further claimed that she was unable to cope with intense academic expectations from the coaching institute and was feeling depressed.

Chandrasekharpur police have recovered the body and initiated a probe.
