Bhubaneswar: Odisha has been reporting a continuous drop in the night temperature with 14 places in the state recording 15°C and below in the last 24 hours, the regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD).
According to MeT, Similguda recorded the lowest temperature in the state at 9.1°C followed by Daringbadi at 11°C, G Udayagiri (11.2°C), Kirei (11.7°C), Koraput (12°C), Sonepure (13°C), Phulbani in Kandhamal district (12.5°C), Bhawanipatna in Kalahandi district (13.4°C), Jharsuguda (14.6 °C) and Boudh (15°C).
The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded a minimum temperature of 18.1°C and 18.5°C respectively.
Notably, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast dry weather for two days followed by light to moderate rain in some southern districts of the state till 8.30 am on November 3.
According to SOA’s Centre for Environment and Climate (CEC), the incursion of moisture from the Bay of Bengal towards the coast would commence from October 31, causing a gradual increase of water vapour over land which would lead to a rise in night temperature.
There may be light rain over coastal districts on November 1 and 2, it said, adding, that the rise in night temperature would continue till November 5 after which it would gradually decrease.
