In surprise move, Morris Garage has temporarily stop taking bookings for its next vehicle in India. This fully electric car has generated much interest in the country.
The MG ZS EV has got 2,300 bookings since it began on December 21, 2019. The electric SUV will be launched on January 23. The price is expected to be revised once MG reopens the bookings.
The MG ZS EV comes with a 44.5kWh liquid-cooled battery pack that gives an ARAI certified range of 340 km. The electric motor produces 143hp and 353Nm of torque.
Like the Hector, MG has loaded the ZS EV with features such as automatic projector headlights with LED DRLs, an 8.0-inch touchscreen, keyless entry/go, a tyre pressure monitoring system, 17-inch alloy wheels and an electronic parking brake, panoramic sunroof, leatherette seats, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, a PM 2.5 filter, rain-sensing wipers, ABS with EBD, ESC, six airbags, hill-start assist, hill-descent control, a rear parking camera and rear sensors.
It will be available in two variants.
MG has also set up 50kW DC fast chargers at select dealerships that can juice up the ZS EV to 80 per cent in just 50 minutes. The company will provide a 7.4kW AC charger that can recharge the battery in 6-8 hours. Apart from that, MG will even provide a portable charging cable that can be used with any 15A socket.
The ZS EV will be launched initially in Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru and Hyderabad. The prices are expected to start at Rs 22 lakh. It will compete with Hyundai Kona and the upcoming Tata Nexon electric.
