Berhampur: Four suspected miscreants looted the valuables from the godown of a local dealer of ‘Heritage’ milk, Lambodar Muni, and murdered him as he resisted them at Hillpatna, here during the wee hours of Sunday.
According to preliminary investigation of police, the main motive of the murder was loot. The miscreants might have killed Lambodar after his resistance, said Berhampur SP Pinak Mishra. The police were informed about the incident on Sunday morning, he added.
“We have registered a case and started the investigation. The scientific team and finger print experts along with the sniffer dogs have collected some scientific evidence,” said the SP.
Though it would be too early to divulge details now, police would arrest the culprits soon, he added. The miscreants damaged the CCTV cameras fitted outside the house.
Additional SP PK Mishra, SDPO B Pati and officers of the Berhampur sub-division police were supervising the investigation at the spot.
