Keonjhar: A minor boy drowned while sailing miniature boat on the occasion Kartika Purnima in Kushei river at Anandapur in Keonjhar district on Friday.
The deceased has been identified as Subham Rout, the only son of Chittaranjan Rout of Nuagarh village under Ghashipura police limits in Keonjhar district.
According to sources, Subham had gone with his family members for a holy dip and sailing miniature boat in the river. While taking bath at Khetrapal ghat, his legs slipped and he was swept away in the river.
He was rescued by locals and fire service personnel after hour-long search and was rushed to the Sub-divisional Hospital, Anandapur, where the doctors declared him dead.
In Balasore, two youths were lucky as NDRF team rescued them after they were swept away in Chandipur sea while taking selfie after sailing boats on Friday.
They were rushed to nearby hospital where their health condition was stated to be stable.
