Jagatsinghpur: A minor girl from Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur district was allegedly murdered in her step-father’s house in Bengaluru.
According to sources, Sasmita Behera of Badabag in the district, was married to Santosh Kumar Behera of Nayagarh district. The couple had two children including a daughter and a son. After some time, Santosh died in a road accident in Rourkela.
Around 8 months back, Sasmita married Papu Jena of Bhadrak district and went to stay with him in Bengaluru along with her children. While Papu was working in a private company, they were staying in a rented house under Rajanakunte police station in the city.
On Saturday, the police were informed about the death of 13-year-old daughter of Sasmita. On arriving at her house, the police found the minor girl lying in a pool of blood. They sent the body for post-mortem and started investigation.
The police have detained three persons in connection with the minor girl’s death and were questioning them.
Meanwhile, Sasmita’s mother Babuli Behera and sister Banita Behera alleged that Papu Jena had killed his stepdaughter. “Earlier, Sasmita had told us that Papu was not treating her daughter as own child. He was also torturing her on some pretext or other. We strongly suspect that Papu must have killed her,” said Banita.
