Sambalpur: Police have detained six persons, including a woman, after a minor girl was allegedly gangraped inside a car on National Highway (NH)-53 in Odisha’s Sambalpur district on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday.
According to media reports, a woman had brought the victim to a dhaba along NH-53 in Goshala area. The woman allegedly worked as a pimp involved in trafficking of young girls and forcing them into prostitution, the reports said, quoting police sources. At the dhaba, four accused joined them.
After dinner, the four men allegedly took the girl inside a car parked nearby and raped her. After passersby alerted police, a PCR van rushed to the spot and rescued the girl.
The woman, the dhaba owner and the four accused have been detained and are being questioned.
