Cuttack: A minor girl inmate of an orphanage was allegedly raped while she was returning from school in Odisha’s Cuttack.
According to sources, the 10-year-old girl, has been staying in the orphanage and studying in school as her mother has passed away and father is in the jail. On Monday, she had gone to school located near the orphanage.
While she was returning to the orphanage, the miscreant waylaid her at College Square area in the city and raped her. She managed to come back to the orphanage and informed its authorities about the incident.
They admitted her in SCB Medical College and Hospital in the city. They also filed an FIR regarding the girl’s rape at the Railway police station on Tuesday.
A four-member team of the Railway Police led by a DCP-level officer has started investigation and recorded the statement of the victim.
“We have registered a case on the basis of the FIR. OIC Jyoti Prakash Nayak is investigating the case. The victim is undergoing treatment at the SCB Medical,” said Cuttack Railway SP Biranchi Prasad Dehury.
