Berhampur: An unidentified miscreant looted Rs 23,000 money from a youth at gunpoint in Berhampur city of Odisha’s Ganjam district late Saturday night.
According to sources, the youth, Rohit Chhatei of Khatuakuda village in Ganjam block of the district, was returning home from Berhampur on his bike when the miscreant intercepted him at Aagasti Nuagaon Chhak near Tata Motors on National Highway 16.
The miscreant put a gun to Rohit’s head and told him to give the money. As Rohit resisted and did not give the money, the miscreant hit him on the head and forcibly took away Rs 23,000 in cash from him.
The unidentified miscreant, who had come on a bike, sped away before the locals reached there on hearing Rohit’s shouting. Later, Rohit filed a complaint at Ganjam police station.
This being second such incident in the area in the last two months, IIC Sumitra Patra of the police station went to the spot and started an investigation.
It may be noted that three persons were travelling in a car from Tamil Nadu to Bhubaneswar in August when two youths came on a bike and stopped the car near Aagasti Nuagaon Chhak. The bikers threatened the three persons with a knife and took away Rs 15,000 from them.
