Miscreants Attack Constable, Release Accused From His Custody In Odisha’s Balasore

Balasore: In a daring day time criminal act, an accused was freed from the custody of a constable by some unidentified miscreants in the district on Wednesday.

According to sources, constable Basant Mallick of Excise Intelligence & Enforcement Bureau had nabbed the accused, wanted in an Excise case, in Mahatipur under Khaira police limits. Mallick had also seized the scooter of the accused.

While Mallick was bringing the accused riding the scooter, around six miscreants intercepted him at Turigadia and attacked him with plastic pipes. As Mallick fell down from the vehicle, the attackers released the accused and fled along with him.

The locals rushed the injured Mallick to community health centre at Khaira. Later, he was shifted to district headquarters hospital.

A case has been registered at Khaira police station on the basis of the complaint filed by Mallick. The police have started investigation and launched a manhunt to nab the accused.
