Puri: Unidentified miscreants attacked a family and set their house on fire at Jhagapatna village under Bramhagiri block in Puri district on Monday night.
According to available information, a group of miscreants barged into the house, thrashed three members of the family residing there and then took them to a nearby abandoned house. They detained the trio for several hours.
On being informed about the incident, a police team rushed to the spot and rescued the victims.
The incident is said to be the fallout of an old enmity as the family was detached from the village recently over a territorial dispute with villagers.
However, police have started investigation on the basis of the statements of the victims and the locals.
