Koraput: In a shocking incident, A woman was allegedly killed after the assailants tied her husband to a tree at a village in Nandapur area of Odisha’s Koraput district.
As per preliminary information, the incident took place at Hariamunda village under the jurisdiction of Nandapur police station in the district on Monday night The deceased was identified as Savitri Khara (21), wife of Mahendra Khara (24).
Sources said Savitri and Mahendra were returning home after completing some work in Nandapur when they were intercepted by a group of miscreants near Handal Tota.
The miscreants reportedly tied Mahendra to a tree and thrashed him. The assailants then attacked Savitri and killed her in front of him before decamping with her gold ornaments.
Locals later found Mahendra in a critical condition and rushed him to a hospital for treatment.
The motive behind the brutal assault and murder remains unclear.
On being informed, a police team visited the site and launched an investigation into the incident. Further details are awaited.
