Sambalpur: Police are on the lookout for three unidentified miscreants who looted cash worth over Rs 10 lakh from Andhra Bank’s Jamankira branch in Odisha’s Sambalapur district on Friday afternoon.
According to sources, three miscreants with masks on their faces arrived at the bank at about 3.40 pm on a black Bajaj Pulsar bike.
As there was no cash transaction in the afternoon, there were only two customers in the bank. The bank manager Susant Sekhar Samant, the field officer and peon were on duty.
Taking this opportunity, the three miscreants barged into the bank and before anyone could react, one of them put a pistol on the bank manager’s head while the two others locked the two customers, the field officer and the peon inside an office room.
They looted cash worth Rs 10, 93,500 from the cash counter and fled the area on the bike.
Before leaving the bank, the miscreants took away the hard disk of the CCTV.
Following information, the Jamankira police rushed to the bank for an on-the-spot investigation.
Meanwhile, police have sealed all entry and exit points of Jamankira town to track the miscreants.
