Balasore: Four miscreants allegedly looted Rs 12 lakh from the employees of a petrol pump after firing at them in Odisha’s Balasore district on Tuesday.
According to sources, Ajay Mohapatra and Bishnupada Sethi, two employees of Krupeswar petrol pump at Kupari under Khaira police station in the district, had gone to a branch of Indian Bank at Bartana to deposit Rs 12 lakh.
As they reached the bank, the miscreants came on two motorcycles and tried to snatch the cash bag from the petrol pump staff in the afternoon. When both Ajay and Bishnupada resisted them, a tussle ensued between them and the miscreants.
As the petrol pump staff put up a strong resistance, one of the miscreants fired three rounds at the former. While one bullet hit Bishnupada on his shoulder, another hit his leg. As he fell down bleeding, the miscreants snatched the cash and fled towards Agarpada.
On being informed about the incident by the locals, a team from Khaira police station rushed to the spot and sent Bishnupada to the local hospital. The police have registered a case and started investigation.
