Missing Minor Girl’s Body Recovered; Rape And Murder Suspected

Malkangiri: The body of a minor girl, reported missing from her house since Monday, was recovered from Bejengiwada village under Kalimela block, Malkangiri district on Thursday.

 

Locals spotted the body near the village with a dupatta wrapped around her neck and clothes ripped off. They informed the girl’s family members who lodged a complaint with the local police suspecting rape and murder.

 

Police have started investigating and conducting raids at different places in the district to trace and nab the accused.

 

In another case, on May 12, a seven-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted in Balasore district.  The incident was reported from Anantpur village where the girl had gone to attend a wedding ceremony.

Sources said that the accused, identified as Manindra Mallick of Purosottampur village, took the girl to a secluded place and committed the heinous crime. Soro police arrested the accused following a complaint by the family.
